WHOSE HOUSE WE ARE
“But
Christ as a Son over His own house;
whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence
and rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.” –
Hebrews 3:6
While the children of
We
read that “Moses verily was
faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony
(a witness) of those things to be
spoken after.” The metaphor is of a “faithful
steward” presiding over his master’s household. It is as illustrated in Eliezer, Abraham’s steward, the “eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all
that he had…” (Genesis 24:2). But in due time the dispensation of
Moses passed away, to be followed by The Christ. And while Moses was faithful
as a servant IN his house – we have “Christ
as a Son OVER His own house; whose house are we…” The lesser was
faithful IN the house, a good servant;
the greater is OVER the house as a Son.
He overshadows the whole house, in perfect control of all that transpires in
His house – “WHOSE HOUSE WE ARE.”
Then Peter comes along to confirm these truths, “You also as living stones, are built up a
spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable
to God by Jesus Christ.” 1 Pet. 2:5
Living stones built up
together, growing into a holy temple. While this “spiritual house” is scattered all over the earth, throughout the nations,
because it is THE SON’S house, He is over it all – it is all joined unto Him.
He ministers the same divine principles to all. The responsibility for the
entire house belongs to the Son. He will perfect that which concerns us; He will bring it to a successful conclusion.

“…the
Church is God’s House…and stands firm only when each living stone in it is
rooted and grounded in faith in Jesus Christ.”
