A PRAYER

Dear Father in Heaven, we glorify Your Name, Your power, and Your Person, for being the Great God that You are, and do so through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Through Him, You have received us as Your children and we are born-again to life ever-lasting, a gift of grace that we can scarcely believe, but which we do believe because Your Word tells us it is true. 1 John 3:1-3

Father, by Your will You have cast us abroad into the world like seed sown upon the soil.  You have sometimes allowed us close fellowship with other Christians, and other times you have kept us to Yourself.  The ways you have dealt with us cause us, at times, to wonder and question why, and yet, we recognize Your wisdom, power and Love and acknowledge that Your thoughts are so much higher than our thoughts and Your ways so much higher than our ways.  We know that You do what is right and that Your judgments are universally far above our own.  We know that as we pray in faith You are able to infuse us with the spirit of unity and oneness, which, along with Godly love, are the hallmarks of those who receive Your Spirit. We thank You for giving us a sense of that oneness, for assuring us that we are not alone, and that You work mightily in the lives of all who call upon You in the Name of Jesus.

Dear Father, because we are frail creatures we know that many times we fail to enter fully into Your promises.  As we consider Your words today, give us greater understanding of You.  Teach us never to be satisfied with knowing about You.  Rather, let us know You intimately, as Your dear children!  For "this is life eternal, that they might know You, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom You have sent!" - John 17:3.   Please reveal Yourself to us through Your  Spirit, that as we read Your Word and meditate upon it we might have power in our lives to do Your will and be pleasing to You.  Change us, Father, so that we might glorify You more than we have ever done before.  We ask this in the worthy and precious Name of Jesus, Who has made it possible to approach You and call you "Our Father."  Amen
