               Doing The Right Thing

If your Mom and Dad tells you that the Lord is making ALL things work out for the very best you might wonder how that could be.  Maybe all you feel is that you did not get something you really wanted or you did get something you did not want!  We sometimes only see the little picture and don’t see the BIG picture that God has in mind.  Here’s an example: you have to go to school every day, whether you feel like going or not.  If you go to school every day, always do your homework and learn your lessons, then one day you will graduate and get a certificate showing that you did the right thing and learned the lessons taught to you by your teachers.  Now you can enter High School.  You may have wished that you did not have to go to school.  You would rather have stayed home and played all day, but then you could never go on to High school or perhaps even College, which  would help you find a job that you like with money to live.

.

When we do that which is right, even though we may not like to do it, we could call that stick-to-it-tive-ness or not giving up when things are not easy. If we learn this lesson when we are young, it will be a great blessing when we grow up. It doesn’t matter how pretty or handsome we are when we go to look for a job later on in life. So, if you have been trying to get out of doing what your Mom, Dad or teacher are asking of you, it will make things much harder for you later on.  But, if you do the right thing now, when you are older, doing what is right  and stick-to-it-tive-ness learned, will help you in every part of your life and you will not only please your boss, but you will be pleasing the Lord, others who love you and you will also feel good about doing your very best.

Maybe you have seen some people who wear a bracelet that says, “What would Jesus Do?” This helps to remind them that what they think and say and do tells other people something about them either for good or for not-so-good.  It also tells others about those we love; and I know you always want other people to think the very best about your Mom, your Dad and Jesus ~ because you love them!
