THE CHILDREN STORY CORNER:

                        HOPE

I’m not talking here about a small hope, like hoping you get what you are wishing for on your birthday. Those are everyday wishes that most people have; but what about if you have a really BIG hope, like when a friend or family member is very, very sick and you hope they will get well again.

Someone I know was in a very serious car accident.  The doctors did not expect her to live and said she would probably never walk again, but she really had a hope that she would not only live but also walk again.  She also had enough faith and determination to do her part in getting well.  I’m happy to say that she did live and was able to walk, perhaps not as well as she once did, but she counted her blessings that she realized a good part of her hope.

As we look around this world today with all its pain, sorrow and troubles, we can be sure there are many are hoping things will soon be different. The wonderful thing is that those who believe the Bible and the promises of our loving Lord have a hope that is “living” for it is based on the sure Word of God.  They have a hope that is real and know that sickness, sorrow and death will pass away in God’s Kingdom which we pray for…”Your kingdom come, and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

This is a real hope that we can share with others when they are simply wishing for something to be better in their life.  The Lord gives a true hope to all His children if they look for it in His Word, the Bible.

Dear Father, help us to share with others the Joy and the Hope of Your love in sending Jesus to save us from our sins and to give us peace and help us when we need it. So many people wish for things but they have no real hope in You and Your word; a wonderful hope, that is not based on earthly things that disappoint us and change but on Your unchanging promises that always come true. With hope, we look for the new world of peace and righteousness that You have promised, when all will know and love you and Jesus and one another. Help me to tell this to others who have no hope.  In Jesus’ Name! Amen
