THE CHILDREN’S STORY CORNER:

                   OUR AWESOME GOD

How would you feel and act if you were introduced to a famous movie star, sports figure, or our President?  Would you be able to talk easily or would you be just a little nervous and tongue-tied?

Now think about our Heavenly Father.  He is the Emperor of the whole universe, Creator of heaven and earth!  Yet, we have been invited into His Presence by and through our dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Because Jesus died for our sins and rose again, we now have the privilege of going right into the presence of our Great and Awesome God in prayer ~ and not through someone else as a go-between.  Isn’t that amazing?

King David of the Old Testament had a great reverence for God and was very much in awe of His Majesty and Greatness.  In Psalm 8 he says, “O, Lord, Our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!...when I consider the heavens the work of Your fingers; the moon and stars you have set in place, what is man that you care for him? (vs. 1, 3)  Read the entire Psalm; also Psalm 19.

Psa. 33:6 says, “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them together by the breath of His mouth.  He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap and lays up the depths in storehouses.  How we should praise such a God?

In Psalm 100 God is praised for His greatness and mercy; in Psalm 121, for His powerful protection.  In Psalm 150 David wants everyone and everything on earth to praise our Awesome LORD!  As you give Him praise, think about the wonderful privilege that He gives us to be able to talk over everything with Him as a loving Father.  Think, also, of how He desires our fellowship and love in return; answers all our prayers asked in faith and according to His will.  Then, to all who will be faithful disciples of His dear Son, Jesus, He is making them to be just like Him so that one day they will be with Jesus, and together they will “bless all the families of the earth.” Then, there will be one wonderful family, all loving one another and God when “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea!”  Isaiah 11:9.  How can we keep from singing praises to such an Awesome God?
