THE CHILDREN’S STORY CORNER:

                        A BEACON OF LOVE

Are you a beacon (lighthouse) of love to others, or are you a black hole that pulls others into it and does not shine light out? How dark is a life that has no love in it.  If we give just  a kind word or a smile, we may never know how it will bless another person.

If we are full of love for others, it will show in our words and in our actions.  Do we look around to see how we can help someone else, or are do we think more about  what they can do for us?

When you feel sad or depressed or discouraged; doesn’t a cheerful, loving word or smile from someone lift your spirits?  That is what you and I can do for others with a little thoughtfulness..

There is a hymn that tells us to count our blessings and when we do we will find that there are many more blessings around us than about which we have thought. For instance, we live in a free country, America; this alone is a great blessing.  Most of us do not have to worry about being shot at, or if we will have any food to eat today. Most of us have a warm home and comfortable bed to sleep in and clothes to wear.  The Bible tells us not to worry about any of these things because our Father knows what we need.  But, we still have to ask Him for what our needs are and this reminds us that all our blessings come from our wonderful Heavenly Father.

How often do you and I thank the Lord for these things we seem to take for granted?   His love towards us was shown when He gave the greatest gift that was ever given, His dear Son; and He did that  while we were still sinners.  Doesn’t that want to make you show some love to others, perhaps less blessed than we are, or are you more apt to look at their faults and turn away?

We should endeavor each day to bless all with whom we come in contact; and if we don’t have love in our hearts we should ask the Lord to give of some of His!  You can be sure it will make someone else’s day much happier and very much more blessed.  And in the process guess what happens?  You, too, will be blessed and find joy in your heart!
