WALKING IN THE LIGHT

“If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” – 1 John 1:7

Far too often, it has been some man in our light, with his standards, creeds, ideas, concepts, and as we tried to walk in them, we were plunged into darkness and confusion. No wonder the prophet declared, “Behold, all you that kindle a fire and compass yourselves about with sparks; walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that you have kindled. This shall you have of My hand; you shall lie down in sorrow” (Isaiah 50:11). O, what sorrow comes from trying to walk in the light from the sparks that men kindle. But how precious just to walk on in that light which He shines upon our pathway, to find that “the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day”  (Proverbs 4:18).

“God is light, and in Him is no darkness.” God is the source of wisdom, purity, happiness; and in Him is no darkness. Thus as we walk in His wisdom and holiness, we have communion with God, and with one another through Him. To live in the same light in which He eternally exists, means that darkness no longer holds any dominion over us. Unbroken fellowship can only come by our walking continually in the light. We speak of our desiring fellowship with God, but He also would have fellowship with us, but “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3). “For what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness – and what communion has light with darkness?”  (2 Corinthians 6:14).

“While you have light, believe in the light, that you may be children of light” (John 12:36). Believing in the light, until it becomes our sphere of dwelling, yes, until we become one with the Light, then light is an inherent part of our being. Praise God!

From Daily Overcoming

“You are here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.  God is not a secret to be kept.  We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill!  If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I am going to hide you under a bucket, do you?  I’m putting you on a light stand.  Now that I’ve put you there on a hill-top, on a light stand ~ shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives.  By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up to God, this generous Father in Heaven.”                            Matthew 5:14-16 (The Message)
