POSTMODERN
TRUTH
Dr.
Albert Mohler, President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, defines
how Postmodernists have refined truth. “According
to postmodern theory, truth is not universal, is not objective or absolute.
Every culture establishes its own truth. All truth is socially constructed.
Truth is made, not found. The role of the intellectual is to deconstruct truth
claims in order to liberate the society.”
Stop
and think just what this theory is propounding! It is saying that what we
believe to be truth today probably will not be tomorrow,
because truth is ever changing to the whims of one
culture. What is acceptable today is subject to change as society would
dictate. This theory has far-reaching adverse effects to the stability of
mankind. No one can be truly sure of anything. Our laws, which may be right
today, could be changed to suit the moods of culture. Standards that are
considered just and right today can be changed to be acceptable to tomorrow’s
society. Nothing is for sure!
This
mind-set has already taken a strong grip on the world’s current thinking. This
new tolerance has the effect of making a bigot of someone who does not go along
with its own definition. In essence, this new tolerance is totally intolerant
to other points of view. It has attacked the Judeo/Christian concept of what is
truth. Truth is found in God’s word, the Old and the New Testaments. These
truths do not change. Neither does their author, for there is no variation or shadow
of turning with God (James
for life.”
God definition of when a child has life
is quite different than that of pro-choicers.
The world continues to look for and
discover the truth, but Christians already have it in Jesus Christ and God’s
word. Satan continues to try to divert the believer off-track by his very
subtle philosophies. He is quite successful with those of the world and they
will as his instruments try to convince everyone else to accept their false
concepts. Sadly, there are some churches today who have been taken in by post-modernist’s
ideology and even some of
their leader preach it from their pulpits.
There is only one true source of
unchanging truth that will guide a believer’s walk in the crooked and perverse
generation (Phil.
My dear brethren, let us walk

May
the words of the Apostle Paul have full effect in our lives.
Colossians
1:9-12: “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we
have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge
of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in
order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every
way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being
strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may
have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father,
who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom
of light.
